AI SEO agency

SEO Back Office is a GEO agency. This page is for buyers searching for an AI SEO agency, because it's the same hire once the goal is getting your brand named in the answers AI systems write.

What is an AI SEO agency?

An AI SEO agency works to get a brand named and cited in the answers AI systems write, rather than only ranked in the list of links underneath. It’s the same hire as a GEO agency, short for generative engine optimization. The work splits in two. Your own pages have to rank, because the answers pull from pages that rank, and your brand has to appear on the third-party pages those systems keep going back to for your category.

Agencies pick different names for it. Some say AI SEO, some say GEO, some say AEO or LLM SEO, and the labels move faster than the work does. What separates one from another is whether they can show you the pages sitting behind the answers in your category and tell you which of them you’re missing from.

If the name matters to you, use whichever one your team says out loud. We answer to all of them and the deliverables don’t change.

What an AI SEO engagement covers

It starts with a log. We build a query set out of the questions your buyers type into an AI, the best-X-for-Y ones, the versus ones, the alternatives-to ones and the is-this-worth-it ones, then run every query across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode. The runs repeat over two to three weeks, because the same question gets a different answer on Thursday than it got on Monday and a single screenshot proves nothing.

The log hands you an outreach list. Most categories have a recurring set of pages the models return to, usually a trade publication’s best-of post, a review site’s comparison page, a directory that ranks and a Reddit thread that ranks. We contact the publishers behind those pages to get you added where you’re missing and corrected where the entry’s wrong. Publishers sometimes want something back, and that part’s a negotiation, one editor at a time.

On your own site the work looks like SEO with the emphasis moved. A page that wants to be quoted says the thing in the first line under the heading and backs it with claims specific enough to lift, since a model takes a sentence with a date in it and skips a vague one. We confirm GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and ClaudeBot can reach the pages that matter, and we keep one description of your company running everywhere it gets listed. The GEO services page breaks each piece out on its own.

The AI SEO we don’t sell

Some agencies sell AI SEO and mean AI-written content at volume. A model drafts forty posts a month, somebody runs them through a humanizer, and the invoice says AI SEO because a machine did the typing.

That’s a content operation with a new sticker on it, and it doesn’t move the thing you came here for. A page gets cited when it ranks and when it says something worth quoting. Pages generated in bulk tend to do neither, so the models pass over them and you’ve paid for a sitemap.

Google published guidance in 2026 called “Optimizing your website for generative AI features on Google Search.” It says those features are rooted in core Search ranking systems, that llms.txt does little for them, and that you don’t need to chunk your content or rewrite it for machines. It also says not to manufacture mentions from trusted sites, which is a fair line and the one that separates this from link buying. Getting added to a best-of list on merit is editorial work. Paying for a fake quote in a syndicated press release isn’t, and we don’t do it.

There’s a use for models inside the work. We draft with them and we summarise logs with them, and nobody here is precious about the tool. What we won’t do is sell you the output as the strategy.

Who this works for

AI SEO pays off for a brand that already has something to be named for. A product with customers, a category where buyers ask comparison questions, competitors who get named in those answers already, and a site that ranks or could rank inside a couple of quarters. If nothing on your site ranks yet, the first few months look like ordinary SEO, because that’s the input the answers get built from.

It works badly as a bolt-on to a launch. A model can only name you from sources that exist, and a three-week-old company has none, so the honest sequence is to get written about first and optimised second. If you want the mechanics of one platform rather than the category, how ChatGPT picks its sources covers that.

We’ll tell you where you sit before you sign anything. The audit is the cheapest way to find out, and it stays useful even if you never hire us, because the citation list reads the same whoever works it.

Find out what the models say about you.

Send us your category and your three closest competitors. We’ll run the first round of queries before the call, so the conversation starts from the answers rather than from a pitch deck.
